Happy Friday, beautiful ✨,
This week I’ve been thinking about something that has quietly changed my life over the last six months, and I realized it felt important enough to share with you.
Some time ago, one of my good girlfriends, who also happens to host an incredible podcast, introduced her listeners to the idea of making a 1% change. The concept was simple enough that it almost felt too simple to matter. Instead of trying to change everything all at once, what if you simply chose one small thing that moved your life in the direction you wanted it to go? What if progress wasn’t found in giant leaps, but in tiny intentional steps taken consistently over time?
As we entered this new year, I decided I was going to take her up on the challenge. I began looking for opportunities to make my own 1% changes. Not dramatic changes. Not the kind that make for exciting social media posts or big announcements. Just intentional choices that felt aligned with becoming the version of myself I wanted to grow into.
What surprised me most was not the changes themselves but the rewards that followed. Some of them arrived exactly where I expected them to. Others showed up in places I never would have connected back to those small decisions.
One of those changes was finally having surgery after spending so much time not knowing if it would happen or when it would happen. Another was the simple commitment to consistently taking my Vitamin D. It sounds so ordinary when I write it, but I could actually feel the difference in my body, in my energy, and in the way I moved through my days.
Another one of my 1% changes was making the decision to prioritize my mental health and begin medication support. That decision felt both incredibly small and incredibly brave all at the same time. Looking back now, I can see how impactful that choice has been in creating more peace and stability in my day-to-day life.
The magic hasn’t stopped there. There have been changes in my financial life, changes in the way I care for myself, and some truly beautiful changes inside my marriage. Some of the ways my husband and I respond to situations that may have created challenges in the past simply feel different now. There is more understanding, more grace, and more partnership than there once was. Those shifts didn’t happen overnight, but they happened nonetheless.
I think sometimes we overlook the power of the choices that don’t look very impressive from the outside. The vitamin. The doctor’s appointment. The walk. The boundary. The medication. The conversation that goes differently than it would have six months ago. The extra payment toward debt. The choice to speak kindly to yourself instead of criticizing yourself. They don’t always look life changing in the moment, but magical things rarely announce themselves while they are happening.
Here we are in the middle of the year, and I want to remind you that there is still so much time left. More than enough time to choose your own 1% change. More than enough time to make one small magical decision and trust that it may lead somewhere beautiful that you cannot yet see.
If you were to choose one 1% change for the second half of this year, what would it be?
And if you’re curious about the podcast that first introduced me to this idea and has become one of my favorite weekly doses of wisdom, encouragement, and perspective, leave me a message below and I’d be happy to share it with you.
Love,
Your Most Magical Self ✨
