Good morning, beautiful. ☀️✨
As we welcome another month, I find myself sitting in a place of deep gratitude. Gratitude for everything that has brought me here, but also gratitude for the woman I am still becoming. Over the last year, I’ve challenged myself to become more aware, not just of my thoughts, but of my actions. It’s one thing to talk about trying new things. It’s another thing entirely to actually give yourself permission to do them. During therapy this past week, we talked about making room for the things that bring me joy, whimsy, and curiosity. That conversation stayed with me, and before I could overthink it, I signed up for a four-week fashion design class. Me… taking a fashion design class! I have no idea where it will lead, and for once, I don’t need to know. I’m simply excited to learn something because it sounds fun.
Interestingly, that same week brought another unexpected opportunity. My husband finished writing his book and asked me to publish it. Years ago, I owned a publishing company, and I absolutely loved that season of my life. I loved the structure, the blueprints, the checklists, and helping people bring their stories into the world. When that chapter came to an end, I happily passed my clients to someone I trusted, someone who has since built a beautiful publishing company of her own. Even today, when someone asks me about publishing, I send them to her because I know they’re in wonderful hands.
Walking through my husband’s publishing process reminded me that I still know exactly how to do it. It was familiar. It was comfortable. It was easy. But somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn’t asking myself if I could still do it. I was asking something much more important. Do I still want to? And for the first time, the answer was no. Not because I didn’t love it. Not because it wasn’t good. Simply because that season has done everything it came to do. Helping my husband publish his book felt wonderful, but it also gave me the confirmation that publishing no longer belongs to my future. It belongs to a chapter that I will always be grateful for.
That realization felt surprisingly freeing. Sometimes we keep carrying things simply because we’re good at them. Sometimes we assume that because something once fit, it always should. But maybe part of growing is giving ourselves permission to revisit the things we once loved, not to hold onto them, but to see if they still fit the person we’ve become. Sometimes they will. Sometimes they won’t. Neither answer is wrong.
So this month, this love letter is my reminder to myself. Be willing to revisit. Be willing to release. Be willing to become a beginner again. Maybe fashion design becomes another beautiful chapter in my story, or maybe it simply becomes a fun four weeks that remind me how much I enjoy learning. Either way, I win because I chose curiosity over certainty. And maybe that’s the invitation for you, too. Go back and visit something you once loved. You might discover it still belongs in your life, or you might discover that making room for something new is exactly the magic you’ve been waiting for.
Your most magical self,
Treshelle
