Tuesdays Feel Like Happiness!

The moment I wake up on a Tuesday morning, I already know—it’s going to be a good day.
Not because something big is happening. Not because I checked a milestone off my list. But because Tuesday is mine.
I wake up late, slow, and easy—no rushing, no obligations that feel like a burden. The music is already playing in the background, filling my home with soft, familiar sounds that make me feel good before my feet even touch the floor.
I take my time getting dressed—maybe a little extra today because I want to feel good for myself.
Because today? Today is for happy.
It’s Taco Tuesday, which means girlfriend time. And if there’s one thing I know about girlfriend time, it’s that it will be filled with ridiculous laughter, deep conversations, and food that makes my soul feel hugged.
We’ll spend the next two to four hours catching up, telling stories, eating chips and guacamole like it’s our job, and losing track of time the way only women who truly enjoy each other’s company can.
And when I say goodbye, my next stop is another place that makes me unreasonably happy:
Aldi.
Yes, Aldi grocery store is a whole experience for me.
Something about walking through those aisles, grabbing my favorite snacks, discovering new random finds, and moving at my own pace feels luxurious in a way that only other Black women who find joy in simple things will understand.
And then the day wraps up perfectly, the way all good days should—with an ice cream date with my husband.
We don’t need a big occasion. We don’t need an extravagant restaurant. We just need a sweet treat and time together.
That’s my happiness.
It’s not flashy. It’s not expensive. It’s not performative.
It just feels good.
And that? That is the real rich life.
Redefining Wealth: Happiness as Currency
For so long, Black women have been told that wealth is something external.
💰 It’s in the job title.
💰 It’s in the house, the car, the luxury labels.
💰 It’s in working twice as hard, being twice as prepared, and proving twice as much.
But true wealth? The kind that matters? That’s happiness.
Wealth is waking up slow on a Tuesday because you designed your life that way.
Wealth is being surrounded by people who make you laugh until your stomach hurts.
Wealth is eating ice cream with your man just because you feel like it.
Black women have spent enough time being productive, accomplished, and strong.
Now, it’s time to be happy.
The Myth That Struggle Makes Us Worthy
For generations, we’ve been taught that we must earn happiness—that it comes after we’ve worked ourselves into exhaustion.
“Get the degree first, then you can breathe.”
“Make six figures first, then you can enjoy life.”
“Handle everything for everyone else first, then you can think about yourself.”
But who decided that?
Who said that happiness is something we have to delay until we’ve suffered enough?
Black women are so much more than what we endure.
We do not have to suffer first.
We do not have to break down before we deserve rest.
We do not have to “earn” softness, joy, or ease.
We get to have it now.
And we do not need permission.
Happiness Is Not a Goal—It’s a Daily Choice
One of the biggest mistakes we make is treating happiness like a finish line.
Like we’ll get to one moment in life where we finally say, “I made it! I’m happy now!”
But that’s not how it works.
✨ Happiness is built in small, intentional choices.
✨ Happiness is something we create daily.
✨ Happiness is in the way we move, the way we protect our peace, the way we choose ourselves.
Happiness is a habit.
How to Make Happy the Goal (Without Waiting for Permission)
If you’ve spent years putting happiness after everything else, here’s how you can start bringing it to the front:
1️⃣ Design a Life That Feels as Good as It Looks
Stop thinking happiness is in the big things. Start making it a daily experience.
✨ Set up your mornings to be slow, peaceful, and yours.
✨ Make your home feel like a sanctuary—not just a place to sleep.
✨ Eat meals that make you happy, not just ones that are convenient.
2️⃣ Protect Your Peace Like It’s a Million-Dollar Asset
The world is loud, exhausting, and demanding. If you are not intentionally choosing your peace, it will be taken from you.
✨ Say no without guilt.
✨ Walk away from anything that drains you.
✨ Make it a habit to unplug, be still, and rest.
3️⃣ Make Room for “Unnecessary” Happiness
Some things don’t “add to your résumé” or “build your brand”—but if they make you happy, they are valuable.
✨ Go on solo coffee dates.
✨ Buy yourself fresh flowers just because.
✨ Spend an hour in a bookstore, a garden, or anywhere that brings you peace.
Happiness doesn’t have to be productive to be worth it.
4️⃣ Surround Yourself With Women Who Inspire Softness
You will never fully embrace happiness if you’re always around people who glorify stress, struggle, and exhaustion.
✨ Find women who enjoy their lives.
✨ Find women who move with ease.
✨ Find women who show you that you don’t have to hustle to be valuable.
Final Thoughts: The Soft, Rich, and Satisfied Life Is Here—If You Choose It
I wake up on Tuesdays knowing happiness is ahead of me—not because I’m lucky, not because I’ve earned it, but because I designed my life that way.
The real rich life isn’t just in numbers.
It’s in time.
It’s in freedom.
It’s in being fully present in your own life.
So I ask you:
👉 What’s one thing you can do today to make happy the goal?
No waiting. No guilt. Just choosing happiness now.
